Escondido CA Renaissance Faire

This was V’s first faire and he really did love it. It’s a lovely faire held in the beautiful Felicita Park. home of the Escondido Ren Faire   not only is it family fun but it’s a very dog friendly environment and a big suggestion from me to anyone looking for something unique to do with there dog.

V looking quite hansom with his new braided lead and bandana.

Max looking like like the princess he is.

big box store groomer horrors

I groom all of my own dogs, including my mother’s standard poodle Max at home.
I try my best and learn what I can from books, and instructors.
There are no good groomers locally that are within my price range, and I refused to trust the big box stores. I’ve always heard the horror stories of them but never before yesterday saw it in person.

Sitting in the waiting room at my Vet, puppy shots for V, A couple came in frantic with their Aussy.
The 13 year old dog had just come from a big box store groomer and his hind legs where no longer working. The dog had no feeling at all from behind. I spoke briefly with the owners before the Vet admitted them. They had questioned the groomer who had admitted the dog did ’squirm too much and jumped off the table once, but was only tired’ that’s why it couldn’t walk.
I kid you not.
I felt horrible for the couple and don’t know the outcome of the Aussy because I left shortly after that.

I like to keep my bloging upbeat but sometimes the gray shadows overcast the good.

I warn anyone who reads this, who takes their dogs to groomers, please. Please. Make sure they are reliable. These are our furry children, they are our loves. You wouldn’t send your two legged kids somewhere they might be hurt, don’t do so to your furry ones.

a little bit of fail

Oh, wait. THERE IS A BLOG HERE?

What?

I’ve been so busy with the dogs and especially training V so that he grows up right that I’d almost forgotten I have a blog to document it all in.
*fail*
If nothing else I should try and put more pictures up here.

In the mean time V’s grown like a weed.
Here’s him and Eve at Pismo Beach on the 5th.

V; 4 day update

It’s been four days since I brought V home and finding the time and energy to put up a post is… hard.

A lot’s happened in those long four days.
To keep it short and sweet I’ll give a list.
Notable mentions...
  • *V’s got more personality then any 7 week old puppy I’ve ever meet.
  • *Food isn’t a factor for him, he kind of hates it.
  • *He sleeps almost completely though the night now, and he stopped crying in his crate after the second night.
  • *the outside stairs are no challenge at all, he watched the dogs run up them and was running after then even though he’d never seen one before.

Other dog’s opinions...
  • *Eve Loves V.
  • *Falcor want’s him gone most of the time; it’s been balancing acts to make him still feel loved but behaving.
  • *Star and Max are sure he’s a new toy for them, they just haven’t figured out how to play with it.

I promise more pup photos tomorrow!

night before jitters

The big day is almost here… I go to the breeders to pick up V tomorrow night!
I cant stop wanting to scream and dance and chant ‘puppy, puppy, puppy!’.
